Dr. David Zaharoff joins the Biomedical Engineering Department

Dr. Zaharoff joins the faculty from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Zaharoff is an expert in engineering biomaterials-based delivery systems for vaccines and immunotherapies.

Recently, Dr. Zaharoff has designed a translatable platform for the paracrine delivery of antitumor cytokines for the treatment of bladder turmors and other solid malignancies. This research is featured in the August 1st issue of Cancer Research and is under consideration for clinical translation in patients with recurrent superficial bladder cancer at the NCI. Dr. Zaharoff's other research interests include vaccines against methamphetamine and other substances of abuse, breast cancer, prostate cancer and pathogen-mimicking particulate vaccines.
