Pacific Vet Acquires Sigrah-Zellet

Pacific Vet Group has purchased the products and assets of Sigrah-Zellet

Release Date: 8/12/2008

Pacific Vet Group bought Sigrah-Zellet, a Fayetteville producer of antibiotic alternatives for poultry. Sigrah-Zellet is a five-year-old company whose poultry products are formulated based on research conducted at the University of Arkansas' Division of Agriculture.

"I think this is another very significant announcement again showing the extraordinary research that has and is taking place at the University of Arkansas," said Steve Rust, chief executive for the Fayetteville Economic Development Council.

The Morning News says Sigrah-Zellet has 20 employees that focus on developing products for use in the poultry industry as alternatives to antibiotics and harmful chemicals. Perform-Max Optimizer II, an organic antimicrobial treatment for water, and EarlyBird, a nutritional supplement for recently hatched poultry, are among the company's developed products.

William Davies, chief executive of Pacific Vet Group-USA, said "The products developed by Sigrah-Zellet are among the most researched and proven in their class. We expect to expand the product line with new and innovative offerings while growing the business geographically through the international resources of the Pacific Vet Group."

According to Davies the company will continue to work with researchers at the university and develop products for the poultry industry.
